Club Career
Drafted as the first overall pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, Edu began his professional soccer career with expansion side Toronto FC. Despite the team's struggles, Edu's season with the Canadian club was a successful one as he went on to play in 25 games scoring four goals and garnering the 2007 MLS Rookie of the Year Award.
After just one year in MLS, Edu made the leap across the Atlantic and signed with Rangers of the Scottish Premier League in August of 2008. Edu's Rangers debut came one month later against Kilmarnock. In February of 2009, Edu earned his first SPL start against Hamilton Academical.
Edu started receiving regular playing time for Rangers in early April after midfielder Barry Fergueson was suspended by head coach Walter Smith. Edu made the most of his opportunity and responded with two game-winning goals.
Since replacing Fergueson, Edu has become a regular starter in the Rangers midfield and has spearheaded their SPL title run.
