Club Career
After spending two years in between the pipes for the University of South Carolina, Guzan started his professional career in the MLS when he was the second selection overall by Chivas USA in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft.
Guzan made a total of 79 appearances with the Los Angeles basec club and earned the 2005 Rookie of the Year and 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
In August of 2008, Guzan made the decision to try his luck in England and signed a contract with Aston Villa of the English Premier League.
The native of Illinois made his debut for Villa in September of 2008 in a Carling Cup match versus QPR. Guzan also served as Villa's goalkeeper during their 2008-2009 UEFA Cup run.
International Career
After spending time in goal for the United States Under-18 team and Under-23 team, Guzan earned his first cap for the U.S. National Team in a 1-0 February 2006 win over Guatemala.
Guzan has gone on to appear in 10 matches for the national team including the squad that represented the U.S. at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China where the Americans did not advance past the group stage.
