PREVIEW: WEEKEND FINNISH ACTION
Bri-Mathias Hodge - Thursday, July 22, 2010
A victory at home would do wonders to remedy Daniel Antunez and FC Inter's disappointing loss last week while Greg Eckhardt and VPS take on the Swedish-speakers from Mariehamn.

FC Inter - FF Jaro

Daniel Antunez is expected to start in the midfiled as Inter looks to bounce back from a loss to Mariehamn against Jaro at Veritas Stadion on Sunday evening.

Timo Furuholm is almost fully recovered from his knee injury and will be available for Inter this weekend.

Inter will have to avoid looking ahead to the Europa League third qualifying round first leg tilt against KRC Genk scheduled for Thursday night in Turku.

Inter are currently a disappointing tenth in the Veikkausliiga standings, even on points with city rivals TPS and Haka.

Jaro are three points ahead in fifth place.

VPS - IFK Mariehamn

Greg Eckhardt is expected to take his normal place in defense as VPS welcome the islanders to the Ostrabothnian coast in a Monday night clash at Hietalahti.

Jyrki Sara is questionable with a thigh injury for the hosts while Valtter Laaksonen, Antonio Inutile, Jan Berg and Joacim Tuuri are all also out with long term injuries.

VPS are currently sixth in the standings at the halfway point of the season while Mariehamn have suffered a real let down after last season's strong campaign and are sitting in 12th place out of 14.

American keeper Brian Pope remains out with a shoulder injury for VPS.
