PREVIEW: ARIS THESSALONIKI – KAVALA FC
Christopher Anderson - Tuesday, March 16, 2010
Hector Cuper's squad follow up their big win on Sunday in the Thessaloniki derby with an even bigger first leg Greek Cup clash on Wednesday afternoon at Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium.

Eddie Johnson will resume his duties from the bench, but Freddy Adu will miss the home leg, having not made Cuper's 18-man roster. The Argentine coach has instead given former Manchester City youth squad striker Ian Daly the nod in a chance to impress following a lengthy absence due to injury.

The only other adjustment to the Aris roster from their 2-0 victory over PAOK FC last Sunday is the inclusion of Albanian backup keeper Stivi Frasheri in place of Michal Peškovič.

The move comes following the Feb. 17 quarterfinal replay in the Super Cup, a 3-0 win over Skoda Xanthi, which saw the 20-year old Adu notch his first goal for the club after arriving on loan in January.

The Blue Argonauts of Kavala also endured a replay in the quarterfinal round, ousting Panionios with an equalizing strike from Siniša Dobrasinović and the 97th minute clincher from Benjamin Onwuachi. Coach Aad de Mos' men look to rebound after falling victim last weekend to an inspired AEK Athens eleven in a 3-0 rout.

With his men not entirely out of the league race for Europa League qualification play-off, the Dutch skipper opted to rest striker Łukasz Sosin, midfielder Siniša Dobrasinović, and defender Manolis Psomas before their Sunday showdown with Larissa.

The two met two Saturdays ago and exchanged goals for their second stalemate this season.
