Ryan Guy will be hoping that St. Patrick's Athletic can make it through to the semi-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup, while Chris Konopka is aiming to help Waterford United collect their second win of the season.
Linfield - St. Patrick's Athletic
Following a 1-1 tie in Richmond Park two weeks ago, St Pat's were served with a warning of how good Linfield can be once they turn on the style.
The Blues fought back after Alex Williams had fired the Saints in front and showed glimpses of why they have been such a consistent powerhouse in the Irish League for so many years.
With that in mind, St Pat's manager Pete Mahon will surely instruct his team to be extra vigilant when the two teams meet again in Windsor Park on Saturday in an important Group three clash.
Whoever wins the game will book their place in the semi-finals of the competition, but if Glentoran lose to Bohemians in the other game taking place on the same day then both St. Pat's and Linfield will join Bohemians and Sligo Rovers in the final four.
The Saints have a full squad to choose from with the exception of defender Noel Haverty, who is still struggling with a hamstring complaint.
Guy is likely to start in his usual position of right wing in what is expected to be an unchanged line-up for the third successive game this season.
Cork City Foras Co-op - Waterford United
Konopka may have kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 pasting of Wexford Youths last week, although the giant shot-stopper will fully admit that his overall performance was not ideal.
It is widely believed among club officials that the more Konopka plays and gets used to the defense in front of him, the more he will ease into the role of being the number one goalkeeper for the First Division leaders.
On Friday, he will make the short journey with his team-mates to Cork City to take on the newly-established club, who tied with promotion favourites Derry City in their first game of the new Airtricity League.
The Blues have a fully fit roster to choose from and will look to winger Liam Kearney to be their creative outlet as they attempt to record their second victory of the campaign.
For Cork, Davin O'Neill and Ian Turner are marked down as doubtful, which will please Waterford manager Stephen Henderson as O'Neill scored Cork's goal last week and is one of their most dangerous players. |
