The stars were aligned on Tuesday evening with both Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley playing at the same time in Rangers' shutout victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Beasley started at his customary spot of winger and went the full 90 minutes while Edu came on as a 68th minute substitute in place of midfielder Kevin Thomson.
It was the first time that both Edu and Beasley were on the field at the same time since last April.
The latter was active from the starting whistle as his speed proved difficult for Killie's defense resulting in several early fouls.
The left-footed US international was also tabbed by head coach Walter Smith to take corner kicks however none of the efforts were able to produce a goal.
It was 10 minutes after halftime when Rangers finally broke through and scored courtesy of Stevie Whittaker. Bosnian Sasa Papac sent in a cross from the left side and Whittaker slotted the shot home from just six yards out.
Five minutes later forward Kenny Miller doubled the margin when he rifled in a shot from the right side of the penalty area.
Miller's goal all but sealed the victory for Smith who brought in Edu to batten down the hatches and to keep Kilmarnock at bay.
Edu even had a shot on goal in the second minute of second half stoppage time but his shot from 25 yards out was blocked by the Killie defense.
The victory extends Rangers' lead in the Scottish Premier League to 13 points with just 10 matches remaining in the season.
Edu and Beasley are back at it again this Sunday when they take on Dundee United in the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup. |

Beas' and Edu's resurgence couldn't have come at a better time for Team USA, considering all the injuries.
