TRAFFIC AND ESTORIL NAB ARGUEZ
Brian Sciaretta - Friday, January 15, 2010
After being released by Hertha Berlin over Germany's winter break, midfielder Bryan Arguez has signed with Traffic Sports and has been immediately transferred to Estoril FC in Portugal's second division, Liga Vitalis.

"Bryan Arguez has signed with Traffic Sports and we are moving him to Estoril FC on a long term deal," said Traffic Sports director Fernando Clavijo. "All the documents have been signed."

Estoril is a club that is also managed and run by Traffic Sports.

The signing of Arguez marks the second American to join the club in recent weeks. Last December, Traffic Sports announced that it would send forward Tony Taylor to Estoril.

The club currently sit in seventh place in the 16 team league. They have 20 points through 15 games but the race for promotion in the league remains tight. Estoril trail first place, Beira-Mar, by nine points.

Arguez, 20, is coming off a relatively strong appearance with the US U20 national team at the 2009 U20 World Cup. While the US failed to advance out of group play, Arguez was one of the better American players over the three games. Arguez was also on the 2007 U20 World Cup team that made quarterfinals but failed to see any playing time.

The Miami, Florida native will now look to rebound his career in Portugal with Estoril FC.

"He was training in Brazil with Flamengo," Clavijo concluded. "Right now he is on his way back to Miami but he will join Estoril in about a week."
