NOBLE BECOMES THE LATEST YANK AT LJUNGSKILE
Jon Van Wagenen - Wednesday, December 16, 2009
Swedish Superettan club Ljungskile SK has announced the signing of another American player, former Chicago Fire goalkeeper Nick Noble.

The former West Virginia University netminder will be making the move to Scandinavia before training matches start in February much to the delight of his new bosses.

"We are very happy he signed," club spokesperson Jörgen Wålemark told YA. "He had a great trial here in the fall and looked to be big, strong and good."

Noble, who had earlier played for the Austin Aztex of the United Soccer League and spent two years on the Chicago Fire, made a strong first impression on everyone at the western Swedish club.

"He is a calm, nice and serious guy who will fit in well at a small club like Ljungskile," added Wålemark.

Wålmark said that the club, which had four Americans on the roster last year, has been using an agent with good contacts within the US to help locate talent.

When asked why the club liked Americans, Wålemark was quick to answer, "Attitude. They have a good attitude, work hard and take their own initiative. There are no problems off the field."

Noble is now the third goalkeeper on the Ljungskille roster, although keeper Nicklass Svensson is set to undergo surgery on both knees. Svensson, who the club picked to replace Delaware native Colin Burns midway through last season, is expected to return within a month.
