PREVIEW: MIDWEEK ENGLISH ACTION
Andrew Vorce - Monday, November 23, 2009
As Europe is raging on, the domestic game in England gets no rest as Jozy Altidore will pit his wits against Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey will look to bounce back against Blackburn.

Hull City - Everton

Jozy Altidore will look to start again against his compatriot but Tim Howard will be out to prove a point after his showing over the weekend.

Hull played to a crazy back and forth 3-3 draw with West Ham that saw Bernard Mendy red carded for a professional foul. Everton were on their heels with a 3-0 loss at Old Trafford to Premier League Champions Manchester United.

Boaz Myhill has been suffering from a knee injury, but should be fit for the home game, while Ian Ashbee is sidelined due to a long term knee problem. Jimmy Bullard picked up a knock against the Potters, and may start on the bench against Everton.

Louis Saha overcame a calf injury to face his former club, while Jack Rodwell and Jo are doubtful with a groin and knee injuries. Victor Anichebe, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka, Phil Neville, Leon Osman, and James Vaughan are all ruled out with knee injuries, with Osman the only exception, being out with an ankle injury.

Fulham - Blackburn

Clint Dempsey was a constant threat against Birmingham City, but was unable to muster enough to break down their defenses and will look to one up Blackburn in the Premier League.

Eddie Johnson was on the bench that game, and will hope to repeat the roster selection in midweek. Fulham will be boosted by the possible returns of Danny Murphy and Andy Johnson, who have been missing from the squad for more than a month. Murphy has been out with a knee injury, while Andy Johnson was out with a groin injury.

Blackburn sit just one point and one place above Fulham, but do not fare well away from home. Blackburn's last game, a 2-0 victory at Bolton were the first points picked up away from home this season. Those performances, coupled with the hospitalization of boss Sam Allardyce due to heart complications, puts a damper on The Rovers.

Rotherham - Lincoln City

Eric Lichaj will look to slot back in at the heart of defense after serving his three match suspension for a red card on his debut for the club.

Lichaj's case for minutes was improved over the weekend as Chris Watt was stretchered off in their 0-0 draw with Grimsby. The knee injury has since improved, but Chris Sutton will probably rest the defender for the match against the Millers. Aaron Brown and Ian Pearce are both suspended for the encounter.

Rotherham sit in fourth, but lost veteran midfielder Paul Warne to an ankle injury over the weekend. Adam Rundle was brought in on a month long loan to replace the midfielder, and Dale Tonge fractured his foot in training.

Notes:

Mike Grella will look to make the bench as Leeds take on Leyton Orient.

Jon-Paul Pittman is out with a knee injury and will not participate as Wycombe host Brentford.

Ian Joyce will hope to make the bench as Southend travel to Tranmere.

Jemal Johnson will look to make an impact from the bench as Milton Keynes Dons take on Carlisle at home.

Zak Whitbread is out injured and will not take part in Millwall's trip to Exeter.

Seb Harris will hope to make the bench as Northampton travels to Aldershot.
