Paco Torres and Edgar Castillo play for bragging rights while Michael Orozco and San Luis hope to clinch a playoff berth with a victory over Queretaro in the last weekend of the Mexican Apertura.
Pachuca-Tigres
Pachuca still have a remote chance of qualifying for the playoffs, but at the very least is hoping to leave the home fans with the sweet taste of victory in their mouths after a somewhat disappointing Apertura.
They will be facing a Tigres team that is coming off arguably its best performance of the year in a 4-0 thrashing of Atlante.
Paco Torres looks poised to start at center midfield for the Tuzos yet again, as the young American will be looking to continue to plead his case for a spot on Bob Bradley's World Cup roster with another solid performance.
On the other side of the ball, Edgar Castillo will most likely start at either left midfield or left defense once again, where he looks to ride the momentum of last week's great performance against Atlante that saw the youngster net a spectacular goal.
The slight chance of playoff qualification for Pachuca combined with the fact that both teams boast extremely talented rosters sets up for a game that should be exciting and entertaining.
Pachuca will be without Damian Alvarez and Paul Aguilar due to injury while Fernando Ortiz will sit out for Tigres for the same reason.
Gallos Blancos-San Luis
San Luis controls its own destiny as they head to Queretaro to face Gallos Blancos in what should be a thrilling match with much on the line.
Michael Orozco, who sat out this past weekend's 4-2 victory over Santos, hopes to regain the confidence of head coach Miguel Angel Lopez and get the start at central defense.
The game is expected to be filled with passion and emotion as Gallos Blancos hopes to remain in the top division with a victory, while the Potosinos are hoping to clinch a playoff berth.
Both Carlos Reinoso and Miguel Angel Lopez will have a full roster at their disposal, as neither team has reported any injuries or suspensions leading up to the clash in Corregidora Stadium.
Pumas-Indios
Indios will need a miracle if they want to pick up their first win of the Apertura in the last weekend of competition, when they face an always tough Pumas team on the road at Estadio Olimpico de CU.
Marco Vidal looks to help his team achieve the nearly impossible goal of stealing a victory on the road, as the American will likely start at his usual center midfield position.
Pumas, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention, will being playing to save face in front of their home fans in hopes that a victory will right all their wrongs during this Apertura.
Meanwhile, Indios desperately want to avoid becoming the first team in the history of the Mexican first division to go winless in a short season.
Pumas will be without Efrain Velarde, Sergio Bernal, and Fernando Morales because of injury, as well as Dario Velon and Dante Lopez who have been called up to represent Paraguay in a weekend friendly.
For Indios, Alejandro Gonzalez and Daiel Frias will both miss the game due to injury. |
