RECAP: WEEKEND FRENCH ACTION
Michael Adubato - Monday, November 9, 2009
Carlos Bocanegra and Rennes slipped up on the road, while Charlie Davies' Lions fared no better at home in weekend Ligue 1 action.

Toulouse 3 - 2 Rennes

After exchanging goals in the first half - Moussa Sissoko for Toulouse and Asamoah Gyan for Rennes - it was the home team that secured all the points in the end after André-Pierre Gignac hit the eventual winner in the 63rd minute to send the visitors down the Ligue 1 standings.

Bocanegra was yanked at the first opportunity after the decisive third goal.

After the re-start le Tefece took the lead 10 minutes later when Norwegian international Daniel Braaten scored his first goal of the season for Toulouse, followed by André-Pierre Gignac's left-footed strike that flew past a Rennes defense that could only watch the ball sail into the back of the net.

Rennes only reply was Kader Mangane's 84th minute net-rippler that ended up being too little, too late.

Bocanegra and company return to action after the international break when they host cellar dwellers Le Mans.

Notes

A Charlie Davies-less Sochaux came away with nothing in the points department against a struggling RC Lens despite second half substitute Sloan Privat's goal late in stoppage time, losing 2-1.
