PREVIEW: WEEKEND DANISH ACTION
David Smith - Friday, November 6, 2009
Benny Feilhaber and Jeremiah White will expect to take full points at relegation-bound Køge while Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjælland will hope to do the same when they visit SønderjyskE.

HB Køge - AGF Aarhus

Benny Feilhaber is expected to take his usual spot in Aarhus' midfield as they look to turn around their nosedive against relegation-found Køge on Saturday.

A poor run which has left the team with only one win in their last seven games has dropped Aarhus to sixth place, however with more than half of the season remaining they still have their eye on a spot in Europe and will look to begin their resurgence against one-win Køge.

They did see a significant improvement in their play in hosting Midtjylland last weekend, however were forced to settle for a point thanks to an own-goal in the game's dying moments.

They should be able to sharpen their claws on their hosts' porous defense, as Køge have allowed a league-worst 2.5 goals per game so far this season, and have shown no real signs of life in going seven games without a win in Superliga competition.

Coach Erik Rassmussen continues to be without defenders Mark Howard and Ulrik Lindkvist as well as midfield Miels Kristensen, who are all recovering from long-term injuries.

Køge are reporting no injuries or suspensions.

SønderjyskE - FC Nordsjælland

Michael Parkhurst will hope to retain his starting spot in Nordsjælland's central defense when they pay a visit to SønderjyskE on Sunday.

After a short run which included a pair of consecutive wins in the league and cup, the Wild Tigers were brought back to earth last weekend with their narrow home loss to local rivals Brøndby.

While Sunday's opponents SønderjyskE sit only one point ahead in the league standings, they will represent a tough nut to crack as they have shown signs of strength in recent weeks, most impressively downing Copenhagen by a 5-0 score last week in the Danish Cup.

To their advantage, Nordsjælland has had good luck with injuries recently, and should only be missing defender Henrik Kildentoft, who is out for the next 3-4 weeks with an ankle injury.

The hosts will be without Danish youth international Nikolaj Agger for at least six months after he broke his ankle in last week's draw with Køge.

BK Frem - FC Roskilde

Roskilde's Jamil Fearrington returns from suspension to face his former team BK Frem on Sunday, as the two struggling teams face an early six-pointer in what looks to be a long battle against relegation for the two clubs.

Fearrington's presence in defense was missed in last weekend's 4-0 home blowout at the hands of Lyngby, however he returns just in time to help his team stave off Frem, who have slowly inched their way upwards and threaten to overtake Roskilde should they prove victorious.

After a disastrous start which left them winless through the season's first two months, Frem have put together a nice run in recent weeks, going undefeated over their last five games, including a pair of wins.

With only one point separating the two teams, the loser will find themselves on the wrong side of the relegation line with nearly half of the season gone, and facing a tough road ahead for the final half.

Fearrington played for Frem in the spring before massive debts at the club left them unable to pay their players and set him free to find new employment.

Roskilde have several players returning from injury and suspension, with the only outstanding question mark being Nikolaj Hansen, who pulled his hamstring against Lyngby.

Frem are reporting no injuries or suspensions.

Notes

Danny Califf is unlikely to feature on Sunday when Midtjylland host last-place Randers, who are still searching for their first win of the season.

Marcus Tracy will hope to once again find his way off the bench on Monday evening when Aalborg host Copenhagen.
