TOBIN FACING UNCERTAIN OFFSEASON
Arch Bell - Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Defender Connor Tobin has just wrapped up his first year of professional soccer but is unsure if he will be returning to Norwegian club Nybergsund-IL for a second season.

Tobin was a starter for the bulk of the 1. Division season before a string of poor results saw the native of Fort Collins, Colorado get relegated to the bench.

As it turns out, the last six weeks of Tobin's season were also hindered by an injury he sustained in early September.

"I actually picked up a quad injury about a month and a half ago so I have been back in the United States rehabbing and trying to get back to full health," Tobin recently told YA.

After starring at the University of Vermont, Tobin ventured across the Atlantic and signed with Nybergsund whose up and down season had the club sitting in both the promotion and relegation zones at different points during the season.

The club finally settled into a ninth place finish and will look to once again fight for promotion to the Eliteserien next year. What is unclear is whether or not Tobin will be part of that effort.

"My current contract is expired with the end of the season and I am not sure yet of my plans," explained Tobin. "I have not ruled out a return to Nybergsund but it is something that needs to be discussed in more detail with the club. If it does not work out, then I will obviously explore other options for next season."

Tobin appeared in a total of 19 matches for Nybergsund during the 2009 1. Division season including 18 starts for the eastern Norwegian club.
