Alejandro Bedoya had a game-winning assist for Örebro in the Allsvenskan while Etchu Tabe played ninety solid minutes in Ljungskile's final Superettan match of the year.
Örebro 2 – 1 Halmstads BK
Alejandro Bedoya returned from injury to help Örebro come from behind and break a nasty slump.
After three straight 3-0 losses, things continued to go poorly as Emir Kujovic scored the tenth staight unanswered goal against Örebro. The 28th minute penalty was especially painful as replays clearly showed that Marcus Oslson lost his balance without any help from Michael Almebäck, the Örebro defender.
Perhaps the injustice woke up Roni Porokara who scored the team's first goal in a month just four minutes later. Porokara took a deflected cross with his chest and volleyed with his right foot. The ball bounced off the left post and the face of a sprawled out Magnus Bahne.
Bedoya made his own luck with 22 minutes left, taking on three defenders to create an assist. Bedoya took a sharp pass and was able to get behind the Halmstad left midfielder and split the outer back and central defender with a run that took him from the wing to deep into the box. He passed off to Roni Porokara, who finished with one touch at close range, this time off the right goal post.
Bedoya was subbed out in the 84th minute.
With two matches to go, Örebro are now four points behind fourth place Kalmar FF, and one of four teams fighting for the final Europa League spot.
Örebro will not have too much time to celebrate as they are back in action on the 28th against league leaders AIK in Solna. Halmstad play second place IFK Göteborg the 27th.
Ljungskile SK 3 – 0 Ängelholms FF
Etchu Tabe was on field and Ryan Miller on the bench as Ljungskile finished their season on a positive note.
The resounding victory at Starke Arvid Arena capped off the season's best stretch for the home team. After winning five and drawing two in their last seven matches, Ljungskile may be wishing the season was a few months longer.
After 39 even minutes, Johan Patricksson took the ball 20 meters from the goal, set himself up and shot the ball hard to beat Petter Augustsson. It was his 13th goal on the season.
Just before half-time Jacob Augustsson was sent out for attacking the Ljungskile goalkeeper Nicklas S,vensson. The Skåne team could not recover.
In the 73rd minute, Niklas Löfgren took a rebound off a corner to score his 12th goal of the year. Ten minutes later, Martin Smedberg-Dalence took a half-volley from a Jörgen Wålmark cross to finish the season.
After crashing out of the Allsvenskan, Ljungskile rebounded from a rough spring to finish 9th. Ängelholm finished two places higher in the table. |
