PREVIEW: WEEKEND MEXICAN ACTION
Friday, October 23, 2009
It will be Yank against Yank as Michael Orozco and the Gladiadores of San Luis Potosi head north to face Edgar Castillo and Tigres while Marco Vidal and Indios of Juarez head south to face the Tuzos of Pachuca.

Tigres – Indios

Edgar Castillo and Tigres will host Michael Orozco and the Indios on Saturday in Nuevo Leon at Universitario Stadium.

Orozco is expected to get the start after sitting out last week's victory at home over defending Champs Pumas. He had received a red card the previous week.

San Luis are currently second in their group and they will need to string together some wins if they are to secure their advancement into the "Liguilla," or ‘playoffs.' Their cushion is quite thin: fourth place Atlas only trails by three points, and third place Chivas by two.

The top two teams from the three groups, plus the two best third place finishers advance to the Liguilla. Thus, the situation for the Tigres looks a little less bright: They currently sit in fourth place, seven points behind second place Cruz Azul.

The Tigres have managed to win only three games in 12 weeks. They have four loses, four ties.

Castillo is expected to start at left midfield.

Pachuca – Indios

Francisco Torres-less Pachuca will host Marco Vidal and the Indios on Saturday in Hidalgo Stadium.

Torres is listed as injured. He played in a CONCACAF Champions League match on Wednesday night and was subbed out in the 46th.

After winning their first three games, Pachuca have dropped their last three of four. They currently sit in fourth place, three points behind America, and four behind second place Monterrey.

Zero wins on the Apertura have assured that the Indios will not be partaking in the Liguilla. The rest of the season, they will playing to avoid relegation.

Vidal will be hoping to start his second consecutive game under new head coach José Treviño.

Indios will be without Juan Pablo Rodríguez and Javier Malagueño due to injury. Daniel Frías is doubtful.

Notes:

Sammy Ochoa is not expected to start when he and Estudiantes host the red hot Red Devils tonight in Trez de Marzo Stadium.
