PREVIEW: WEEKEND IRISH ACTION
Gareth Maher - Thursday, October 22, 2009
Ryan Guy will be hoping to feature for St. Patrick's Athletic in their game with Derry City, while Chris Konopka should start for Sporting Fingal in the FAI Ford Cup semi-final for Sporting Fingal against Bray Wanderers.

St. Patrick's Athletic - Derry City

After missing the 3-1 defeat to Bohemians earlier in the week, Guy will be aiming to break back into the Saints starting line-up for this must-win game on Friday.

The San Diego native will be seen by head coach Pete Mahon as the perfect player to call on considering both Declan O'Brien and Mark Quigley are struggling with injuries.

Damian Lynch is suspended for the Richmond Park outfit and Noel Haverty remains unavailable due to a hamstring injury, so the Dublin will be forced into changes as they attempt to reach the 40 point mark.

Derry have some injury concerns of their own with Sammy Morrow, Thomas Stewart, Mark Farren, Peter Hutton, and David Scullion all rated doubtful.

Sporting Fingal - Bray Wanderers

Konopka is expected to take his place between the posts for Sporting on Sunday as they go in search of the victory that would send them through to the FAI Ford Cup final.

The New Jersey shot-stopper should take over from the suspended Darren Quigley and will be hoping to impress as he tries to win a new contract with the First Division club.

Striker Gary O'Neil is also forced to serve a one-match ban, but Liam Buckley's team could see this game as the perfect opportunity for the club to reach their first major final.

Bray will not have Derek Pender available due to suspension and they have doubts hovering over Derek Foran and Paul Byrne.
