FC Lyn goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey's season has come to an abrupt end after sustaining a knee injury in practice last week.
Lacey appeared in six matches this season after signing with the Oslo club in August following a successful trial which included a friendly versus Premiership giants Liverpool.
With just two games left in the Eliteserien, the native of Jenks, Oklahoma says he will be forced to go under the knife to correct the damage done to his knee.
"I tore my right meniscus while training last Thursday," Lacey informed YA. "I'm out for the last two games with surgery next week and then back to the States for rehab."
The stint with the Norwegian club has been an eventful one for the former Tulsa Hurricane who led the team to just its second victory of the season in his first match after signing with the club.
Shortly thereafter, news surfaced that Lyn was experiencing financial issues and that the club would fold if they were not able to raise enough money to pay off their debts.
The club was saved by a team sponsor allowing them to finish off the season but the damage on the field had already been done as Lyn were officially relegated to the 1. Division earlier this month.
Despite the turmoil, Lacey's attitude continues to be upbeat and it is apparent that the netminder is approaching his injury with the same mindset.
"It's not fun but I'm looking forward to a quick recovery and being back on the field by January," he concluded. |
