He is such an exciting player. Hopefully he doesn't lose any of his ability. Eduardo came back sooner than anyone thought and is performing at his best again.
That being said, life itself is more important than anything as trivial as soccer and it sounds like he is blessed to still be alive. Thoughts and prayers to the young lady's family and the other occupant of the car.

That last note about Charlie's prognosis to resume high-level competition being "substantially improved" shouldn't give anyone any illusions concerning his being available for WC 2010: given these particular injuries, there's just no way.

Northern Virginia is one of the most stupidly complex places to drive. It is the most unnecessarily confusing and counter-intuitive designs I've ever seen. Davies is a phenomenal soccer player, and one of the best forwards we've ever had. This is a crushing loss to everyone involved. Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

Femur fractures are incredibly painful and difficult injuries to recover from. Just the immediate recovery is fraught with risk due to formation of clots in the legs and pulmonary embolism. Who knows how much, if any, blood he lost as well.
Tragic.

UPDATE 7:48 PM ET-Goff echoes the report that Davies is out of surgery and in serious condition, with the added note that the team did indeed have a curfew last night. The implication then is that Davies broke curfew. More details will come after 9 PM ET, when Davies' family is set to arrive from California.
