Injury-plagued midfielder Brian Waltrip is hopeful that he will see a return to action for Molde FK by the end of the Norwegian Eliteserien season.
Waltrip signed a contract with the Norwegian club prior to the 2008 season and appeared in 11 matches, but has yet to see any action this season with the first team due to damage in his ligaments and ankle.
The native of Pensacola, Florida did manage to see some minutes with Molde's reserve team back in the early part of the season, but clarified that since April, his time has been spent in the training room.
"I have been injured all year with torn ligaments and a fracture of the right ankle," Waltrip recently revealed to YA.
The former University of South Florida standout is familiar to many fans in the Nordic country whom have seen Waltrip play all over Norway including a season at FK Mandalskameratene, two seasons at Sandefjord and another year at Sogndal.
Playing stints in Finland and Portugal can also be found on the resume of the Sunshine State resident who was once a candidate for the Hermann Trophy.
Despite the fact that the Eliteserien race is now over after Rosenborg's title clinching win over Molde this past Sunday, the well-traveled 31 year-old is placing a big emphasis on the final month of the season to show his attacking skills are still in tact.
"I am just getting back into training, and hope to be back with the team sometime during the last month of the season," he concluded.
Waltrip will likely not be suiting up this weekend for second place Molde who return to action this weekend in hopes of nailing down a berth in next year's Europa League when they travel to Odd. |
