PREVIEW: MIDWEEK ENGLISH ACTION
Andrew Vorce - Monday, September 28, 2009
Jon-Paul Pittman will hope to help Wycombe escape the drop zone while Jemal Johnson will do his best to get the Dons back to their winning ways.

Oldham - Milton Keynes Dons

Jemal Johnson will look to bounce back after the Dons' weekend defeat, who travel to Oldham in League One action.

Jermaine Easter will hope to get minutes under his belt after time off due to a thigh injury, but Danny Woodards will be out after rolling his ankle last week. Jude Stirling and Sean O'Hanlon are long term injury concerns, while Sam Baldock is away with England in the U-20 World Cup.

Oldham have undergone a striker shortage as of late, with Nick Blackman nearing a full return after a foot injury. Lewis Alessandra will need surgery on damaged ankle ligaments, while Pawel Abbott will need a hernia operation. Deane Smalley will also have to undergo the knife for a damaged disc in his back.

Jon Worthington is also out with an ankle injury, while Joe Jacobson and Rob Purdie are long term absentees for Oldham.

Wycombe - Tranmere

Jon-Paul Pittman looks to continue his positive play for Wycombe as the striker is in search for another goal when Tranmere come to town.

Tommy Doherty is out for the Chairboys as the midfielder remains sidelined due to an ankle problem. Matty Bloomfield is also on the sidelines with a broken nose and cheekbone, and has at least another month before returning to the front lines.

Both clubs are separated by two points but only one position, with neither team able to produce a winning streak yet this season. Michael Rickett's was an injury concern with a knee injury, but looks likely to fight through the pain in a point-vital matchup.

Leeds - Carlisle

Mike Grella will hope his play in Leeds' weekend victory will have been enough to keep his place in Simon Grayson's squad as the Whites welcome Carlisle.

Grayson is likely to go with fit-again Richard Naylor who has recovered from a back injury, while Rui Marques is out with an Achilles injury. Tresor Kandol and Enoch Showunmi are likely to get looks after a strong showing in the Leeds reserves game against Scunthorpe.

Both Scott Dobie and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson are pushing for starting spots for the Cumbrians, as Simon Lakeland remains a long term absentee with a medial ligament injury.

Notes

Jay DeMerit will not be a feature when Coventry come to Watford as he recovers from his eye injury.

Frank Simek will hope to be on the bench when Sheffield Wednesday travel to Crystal Palace.

Ian Joyce will be on the bench as Brentford welcome Southend to Roots Hall.

Zak Whitbread will not feature as Yeovil come to Millwall while he recovers from hip surgery.

Seb Harris will hope to be on the bench for Northampton once again as they welcome Rotherham.
