PREVIEW: JJK - VPS
Arch Bell - Thursday, September 24, 2009
There is no rest for the weary as Veikkausliiga action returns this Saturday for Lawrence Smith and VPS who travel to Harjun Stadion in Jyväskylä to face last place JJK.

Smith got the start in Wednesday's 2-2 draw versus FC Inter before yielding his spot in the 66th minute so head coach Petri Vuorinen may opt to bring on the native South Carolinian as a second half replacement during Saturday's match.

With just three matches remaining in the season, VPS would like to end the campaign on a positive note and maybe even grab a spot in the top five.

The opportunity to pick up three points will certainly be attainable against bottom feeder JJK who appear bound for relegation.

The hosts were promoted from the Ykkönen following the 2008 season but were unable to continue that momentum while playing this season in Finland's highest level.

JJK are also one of the worst defensive teams in the league with 45 goals allowed thus providing a chance for Smith and his fellow attackers to pad their personal stats.

Midfielder Toni Koskela will be unavailable for JJK head coach Ville Priha while Vuorinen is still missing defenders Jan Ahlvik and Jyrki Saranpää.
