PREVIEW: VPS - FC INTER
Arch Bell - Monday, September 21, 2009
On just two days of rest, Lawrence Smith and VPS return to action when they square off against FC Inter on Wednesday evening at Hietalahti Stadium in Vaasa.

Head coach Petri Vuorinen had forward Lawrence Smith come off the bench as a second half substitute in Sunday's defeat at HJK so it would reason that Vuorinen gives the starting nod to Smith who should be fully rested.

The native of South Carolina has tallied three goals on the season and will be looking to finish up on a strong note with just four matches remaining in the Veikkausliiga season.

Two consecutive shutouts have ended any shot of VPS making a run at a berth in next year's Europa League however there is still a chance that the club will earn a spot in the tournament due to their good standing in the Veikkausliiga Fair Play race.

FC Inter still have plenty to play for as they sit in sixth place and are five points out of a Europa League spot.

The visitors from Turku are directed by Dutchman Job Dragtsma who may be without midfielder Joni Kauko.

Vuorinen will once again be missing the services of defenders Jan Ahlvik and Jyrki Saranpää whom are still out with injuries.
