RECAP: BRØNSHØJ BK 1 - 3 FC MIDTJYLLAND
David Smith - Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Danny Califf was back in the starting lineup for Midtjylland as they finally managed to wrap up their first victory under coach Allan Kuhn to advance to the Danish Cup fourth round.

Mired in the midst of a four-game losing streak since the start of his tenure with the Wolves, Kuhn was looking to the third-tier Wasps as an opportunity for his squad to build some measure of confidence as they try to get their season back on track.

While his team was predictably the dominant of the two throughout the first 45 minutes, their inability to get onto the scoreboard combined several pesky advances by their hosts Brønshøj left some question at the half as to whether a rather devastating upset was in the cards.

A disputed penalty call in favor of Kuhn's men two minutes after the break allowed Romanian midfielder Georghe Florescu to slot home their opening goal from the spot.

Three minutes later, late summer transfer window acquisitions Poul Hübertz and ken Ilsø linked up to put the Wolves up by a pair, with Hübertz sending Ilsø free into the area to score his first goal for the club in impressive fashion.

With his team finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, Brønshøj caught them off-guard in the 66th minute when Mads Hedegaard cut the lead to a single goal, then continued pushing hard for an equalizer.

The Wolves held strong and finally cemented their first win in more than one month with Jonas Borring lobbing a shot over the keeper one minute from full time to give the Wolves the final 3-1 win.

Kuhn and his squad must wait until the rest of the participants in the Ekstra Bladet Cup play their third round games the following Wednesday before they find out their opponents for late-October's round of 16.

They resume their league campaign on Monday when they take a trip to second-place Aarhus, hoping to climb out of the bottom two with a positive result.
