American teenager Norberto Ochoa is on trial with Club Brugge in Belgium, hoping to join current U-20 national team player Jared Jeffrey as the second American at the club.
"[Norberto] is here on trial but has not signed a contract," Luc Verweirder, Club Brugge's press officer told YA.
Ochoa, who is the youngest brother of a quadruplet of brothers playing soccer around the globe, is currently working out with Brugge's second team.
In hist most recent outing, the product of the Arsenal FC youth club in California came on in the second half of their game Friday evening.
Although the club's official website had initially credited Norberto with a goal on Friday, Verweirder confirmed that was a mistake.
"No, he didn't score. It was reported that he did but one of the defenders scored the goal."
The youngest of four siblings has seen his brothers Jesús, Sammy and Armando all sign professional contracts. The most recent move in the family occurred when Armando signed with Austria's Cashpoint SCR Altach, the former club of striker Nate Jaqua.
Jesús Ochoa has played in MLS for the Los Angeles Galaxy as well as Chivas USA, while Sammy has long been a prospect in the Estudiantes Tecos set-up in Mexico and was once a regular for the United States U-20 team.
"I'm not sure how long he has been here or how long he will stay," Verweirder continued.
"If he signs or not will be the decision of the coach." |
