RECAP: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
Bri-Mathias Hodge - Monday, August 31, 2009
Alejandro Bedoya went the distance for Örebro in a Monday night win over Gefle while Etchu Tabe scored for Ljungskile, but it went to waste in a Friday night loss at Väsby.

Örebro 2 - 0 Gefle IF FF

Alejandro Bedoya got the start and went the full 90 at left midfield as Örebro's Finnish manager Sixten Boström trotted out a 4-3-3 for the fans at Behrn Arena Monday night.

Coming out of the break even, Örebro was stirred on by the home fans and started the second half looking for the full three points.

They would get them when Magnus Wikström started the scoring in the 60th minute, one-timing a right footed shot into the upper 90 after the Finn Roni Porokara received a short corner and laid the ball back to the penalty spot.

Just three minutes later the hosts would add an insurance tally when Markus Astvald sent Adriano Munoz in on the right side of the six yard box and the Brazilian journeyman went top shelf from a tight angle to beat Mattias Hugosson.

With the win Örebro leapfrog their guests into 7th place inthe Allsvenskan standings with nine games left in the season and eight points separating them from leaders AIK.

Väsby United 2 - 1 Ljungskile SK

Ljungskile's American contingent had a rough night on Friday as Ljungskile fell for the first time ever to fellow relegation strugglers Väsby.

Ryan Miller and Etchu Tabe both went the distance in defense for the guests.

On a wet night at the Vilundavallen in front of an estimated three hundred fans the hosts came out strong and went in front in the 27th minute when Viktor Lundberg used the slick grass to his advantage, slipping the ball past Nicklas Svensson from thirty yards out.

Once down a goal LSK finally began to fight back and Tabe grabbed the equalizer off of a header just three minutes later.

With LSK taking control of the match they received a shock just before halftime when Admir Catovic put the hosts back in front, and this lead would stand up.

Neither Colin Burns nor Sam Brill saw action for Ljungskile on the evening with Burns out of favor with Ljungskile management and Brill featuring for the second team.

Ljungskile are now in the relegation playoff zone with the loss, though only two points from 10th place in the logjam that is the bottom of the Superettan table.
