After a successful 2008-09 Premier League Campaign and a strong showing in the Confederations Cup, Clint Dempsey has secured a contract extension with Fulham until the summer of 2013.
"Clint signed an extension to his contract yesterday," Fulham press assistant Carl Miller told YA.
"The extension itself is two years to his contract, so the full contract will run until the summer of 2013."
The former New England Revolution striker made the move to the London club in January of 2007 after previous negotiations between Charlton Athletic and MLS were terminated.
He has since planted himself in the starting lineup, quickly becoming a fan favorite thanks to his knack for scoring key goals.
Since taking over the reigns at the club towards the end of 2007, Cottagers' head coach Roy Hodgson has seen his American star grow consistently.
"During the 18 months I've been at the Club he's got better and better," Hodgson told Fulham's official website. "Of course his performances in the Confederations Cup and not least his performances for Fulham in helping us get to seventh place are proof that he's actually becoming a better footballer."
Dempsey will be looking to add to his seven Premier League goals scored last season when he and the rest of the Cottagers begin their 2009-10 campaign on Saturday against Portsmouth. |

I like Clint but seeing him trot around aimlessly for 89 minutes for the USMNT only to score a great goal makes me wonder how good he could be if he only applied himself more consistently for 90 minutes. His defending is dreadful as well, which is why he is less of a liability when coach Bradley moves him up top when he's seen enough mediocre play in the midfield....
Haven't seen him play for Fulham lately. Perhaps he saves it for those who are actually signing his paycheck.
