Alejandro Bedoya and Orebro drew with cellar dweller Orgryte in the Allsvenskan while the Ljungskile train keeps on rolling in the Superettan.
Orebro 2 - 2 Orgryte
Orebro played to a bizarre draw with last place Orgryte in Monday afternoon Allsvenskan action at Behrn Arena in Orebro.
Coming off of an electric two goal effort, midfielder Alejandro Bedoya got the starting nod from head coach Sixten Bostrom whose squad let another two points slip from their fingers.
Bedoya would end up getting substituted out in the 78th minute for Markus Astvald.
The match would see the visitors score all four goals, two in the Orebro net and two in their own net.
The first own goal came in the 15th minute when Patrik Anttonen's cross into the area proved dangerous enough to make Orgryte defender David Leiner attempt to clear it with his head, only to see the ball fly over the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Bengt Andersson and into the net.
Orebro came close to scoring on their own accord when Bedoya ripped a shot in the 38th minute that missed the target.
In the first five minutes of the second half, the visitors found the net twice in the 46th minute and the 49th minute.
For a club that had scored only eight goals on the season, the two goal outburst was a source of jubilation for Orgryte who got their first goal when Pavel Zavadil sent a long ball into Alvaro Santos who had slipped past the hosts' defense and easily beat Orebro goalkeeper John Alvbåge for the goal.
Orgryte shockingly took the lead just three minutes later when Bjorn Anklev's cross barely found the right toe of Markus Allback who poked the ball into the net right past Alvbage who had arrived a second late in trying to clear the ball from the area.
After dominating the first 45 minutes, Bedoya and company all of the sudden saw themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard and desperately pushed for the equalizer.
The tying goal finally arrived in the 85th minute when Orgryte defender Dennis Johnson tried to clear a cross in the area with his left foot only to misjudge the angle and slam the ball into his own net much to the chagrin of Andersson.
With the draw, Orebro slip a place in the standings to seventh with 24 points as next Sunday they plan to visit first place Helsingborgs who boast former FC Barcelona and Celtic man Henrik Larsson.
Ljungskile 2-0 Sirius
Ljungskile enjoyed a return home to Starke Arvid Arena on Sunday with a two goal victory over Sirius that sees the club continue to climb in the standings.
American defenders Ryan Miller and Etchu Tabe were included in the starting eleven and both men went the distance in the victory for head coach Jörgen Wålemark.
The home team went ahead with a quick strike in the 25th minute from Johan Patriksson.
Just a minute later they'd double their lead when captain Martin Smedberg-Dalence assisted on the second goal of the game from Patriksson
Miller would be the only American to show up on the game report. He found himself on the receiving end of a yellow card from official Antti Kanerva just 11 minutes in to the second half.
Despite three second-half changes from the visitors, they couldn't manage to find the back of the Ljungskile goal.
Fellow American teammates Sam Brill and frustrated goalkeeper Colin Burns were not named to the game-day roster for the Swedish club.
After three straight wins the club heads back on the road next weekend where they will face Vasalunds IF, a club that currently sits three points behind them in the standings. |
