ZIZZO LOAN HALTED BY HEART IRREGULARITY David Smith - Thursday, July 16, 2009
Contrary to earlier reports of gastrointestinal flu, it has been confirmed by Hannover 96 that a heart irregularity was responsible for delaying Sal Zizzo's loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
After having seemingly joined the newly promoted 2. Bundesliga club on one-year loan deal, Zizzo was sent back to Hannover barely one week after having reported to Düsseldorf, with a flu bug having been initially reported as the snag.
Following a week of testing, however, Hannover has admitted that the underlying cause for Fortuna's concern was due a far more worrisome source.
"Sal has been checked out at our offices back in Hannover by outside doctors not coming from our team," Hannover press officer Andreas Kuhnt confirmed to YA. "The test results show that he has a slight irregularity with his heart but he can still play football in the Bundesliga."
While the most recent results come as a welcome relief to all parties involved, they do come after several nervous days as doctors at Fortuna had initially indicated a more severe problem.
"We are now speaking with the doctors in Düsseldorf to think about their test results from Friday of last week."
"They had told us that they had results saying that he couldn't play football anymore, whereas ours indicate otherwise."
The more encouraging outlook from independent doctors in Hannover means that the the loan deal may still proceed, however, pending an agreement between the two teams.
"We will first talk to the doctors in Düsseldorf then we will come to a final decision."
With Hannover's first team in the midst of an extended training camp in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria, Zizzo will meanwhile continue his pre-season workout with their second team, before joining the main squad upon their return.
"Sal is going to be training with the second team starting today or tomorrow until Thrusday of next week," Kuhnt finished, "then when the first team is back from Austria he will resume training with them."

Hope that all get resolved soon and allow him to play for Dusseldorf because, in my opinion, he is easily our most fearless winger in our national team pool but needs to work more on his technicial skills.
