EDU OUT THREE MONTHS AFTER KNEE OP
Arch Bell - Thursday, June 4, 2009
Rangers FC and U.S. National Team midfielder Maurice Edu will not be seeing the field this summer after undergoing a knee operation on Wednesday in London.

"I had surgery today," Edu confirmed to YA on Wednesday.

Edu had arrived in the English capital on Tuesday to seek a second opinion from top London surgeon Andy Williams regarding the knee he injured in the season finale against Dundee United.

The injury occurred at the end of the first half when United defender Darren Dods took down the native of Fontana, California at the knees with a nasty tackle.

As far as a timetable on returning to action, the former Maryland Terrapin said that it will be a while before he will play again.

"The doctor said I am out possibly three months," the midfielder lamented.

The surgery will force Edu to miss all national team games this summer and most likely the start of the 2009-2010 Scottish Premier League season.
