JOHNSON MOVING ON FROM MK DONS
Arch Bell - Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Striker Jemal Johnson will be searching this summer for a new place to play after receiving his release from League One club Milton Keynes Dons.

The native of Paterson, NJ had been with the club for two seasons before getting word this week that he was not in the club's future plans.

"It's a decision that obviously the manager and chairman have discussed, and it's come about because they couldn't reach an agreement with Jemal," said team Press Officer Anthony Herlihy to YA.

The former Blackburn Rovers man appeared in 76 games for the Dons and scored 12 goals.

Johnson was part of a group of six players in total who received their walking papers from the team including former Rangers FC and Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo.

It was unclear whether Johnson's departure from the club was a result of not receiving promotion to the Championship or if it was due to an existing conflict between the club and the striker.

"It's not something that we'll comment on any further beyond the statement we've made already," added Herlihy.

The Dons bowed out of the League One playoffs over the weekend in heartbreaking fashion after losing to Scunthorpe in penalty kicks.
