NOWAK NAMES U-23 TOULON ROSTER
Rich Fidler - Tuesday, May 13, 2008
US U-23 Men's National Team head coach Peter Nowak has named a roster of 22 players that will don the Red, White and Blue in the Toulon International Tournament starting next week in Toulon, France.

Defender, and one time forward, Kamani Hill of Vfl Wolfsburg in Germany is the only field player on the tournament roster who played a part in the US qualification efforts to get to the Olympics this fall in Beijing. Hill played in two of the five qualification matches; starting the final in which they lost 1-0 to Honduras in overtime.

Goalkeepers Chris Seitz and Dominic Cervi were also on the qualification roster back in March and shared duties throughout the tournament, though Seitz was clearly Nowak's top choice.

The roster consists of 11 players who are currently with clubs in Major League Soccer; three of whom play for the Los Angeles Galaxy - Mike Gavin, Bryan Jordan and Julian Valentin. FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake contributed two players to the roster, while Kansas City, New England and Houston allowed one member of their respective teams to join Nowak in France.

Youth was served by the former DC United head coach with four players selected who will be eligible for next years FIFA U-20 World Cup. Hertha Berlin tandem Arguez, Bryan and Ellis McLoughlin are joined by Southampton Youth Academy's Kyle Davies and FC Dallas defender Brek Shea.

The U.S. team will face Turkey on Wednesday, May 21st before traveling to play the Ivory Coast on Friday, May 23rd. The US will wrap up group play on Sunday, May 25th against Italy.
