CORRALES IN MLS RETURN DISCUSSIONS

Corrales is likely on his way to MLS

Brann defender Ramiro Corrales is expected to leave Norway during the upcoming January transfer window and return to Major League Soccer.

"Ramiro has decided that his future best lies away from Brann, and we are looking into several MLS options," asserted agent Patrick McCabe. "The reasons are more of a family nature than for soccer reasons, and we will be exploring MLS options soon."

The 30-year old spent a majority of his MLS career with the San Jose Earthquakes, now the Houston Dynamo, during his nine years in the league. Although he's been out of the league since the 2004 season, Corrales' rights are still held by Houston.

"Any move back to the league would have to go through them."

"There has been interest from Toronto and some from New York," McCabe continued. "We will sit down with Brann and MLS soon so that he can be ready in January."

"San Jose could be a fit as well as Frank [Yallop, San Jose head coach,] is a big admirer, but there has been nothing more than initial discussions."

The Salinas, California native spent three years in the Norwegian top flight, playing initially for Ham-Kam, before he was transferred to Brann in January.

This season, one which was hampered by injury, saw Corrales score once in 17 appearance through all competitions as Brann won their first title since 1963.
