OCHOA LOOKING AT MLS OPTIONS

Sammy in happier times

Former US youth international Sammy Ochoa says that he is interested in signing with MLS when his contract with Tecos runs out in the spring.

Ochoa, 21, appeared for the US in the 2005 World Youth Championships in Holland where he made appearances in all four matches under current Columbus Crew head coach Sigi Schmid.

Though a starter in three of the four matches, his luck at Tecos has not been the same recently in Mexico.

"It has been disappointing," the Morelia-born American told YA. "I have not played much the past two years."

"I only have another six months on my contract and then I am going to open my options and see where I could go."

"MLS is definitely an option. I've had some discussion with Sigi about coming here, but we'll see," Ochoa said. "It would be great though."

Ochoa, who made his UAG debut in February 2006, has not appeared for the Owls since a four minute spell in the 2007 Clausura on Valentines Day.

Since signing with Tecos in early 2005, Ochoa has a scant 13 appearances with just three starts in the Mexican top-flight. His lone goal was a March 2006 game-winner against UNAM Pumas.
