It was a happy weekend for the Danish Yanks, with all three clubs, including Danny Califf's Aalborg BK, scoring SAS Liga victories.
Esbjerg fB 0 - 2 Aalborg BK
Aalborg BK ended their four game winless streak with a lucky 2-0 win at Esbjerg Sunday afternoon.
Danny Califf played his usual 90 minutes in Aalborg's central defense, and was kept under pressure from the beginning.
However, it was the visitors who went ahead after 25 minutes, when Esbjerg defender Flittie Onstad stumbled on a weak pass from keeper Lars Winde. Mattias Lindström intercepted the ball and sent it past Winde.
Esbjerg kept the pressure on, but a header from Jesper Bech out of keeper Jimmy Nielsen's reach 10 minutes before halftime was stopped by Fredrik Winsnes on the goal line.
Califf received one of Aalborg's four yellow cards after a foul just outside the box in the 43rd minute.
Aalborg managed to keep the hosts away from any major chances in the second half and even got a few chances on the counterattack.
Fifteen minutes before time, Winsnes missed from the penalty spot, but on the following corner Jeppe Curth rose above the Esbjerg defense and made it two.
The win means that AaB stay in fourth before next weekend's home game against Randers FC.
FC Nordsjælland 5 - 1 Silkeborg IF
FC Nordsjælland continued their home winning streak with convincing numbers of 5-1 against Silkeborg at Farum Park on Sunday.
Heath Pearce went the distance on the left side of the Nordsjælland defense.
FC Nordsjælland dominated from the beginning, and after 23 minutes, Thomas Kristensen sent the ball past David Preece from the edge of the penalty area.
The lead lasted 11 minutes into the second half, when Hördur Sveinsson took advantage of a cross from Holmar ôrn Runarsson to make it 1-1.
Three minutes later, however, Jukka Santala sent Nordsjælland ahead again after Preece missed the ball, and three minutes after that, Santala added a second after a quick turn on the edge of the box.
Danny Olsen made it four 10 minutes before time, and Morten Nordstrand scored from the penalty spot with four minutes to go.
Nordsjælland stay in third place before next weekend's away game against bottom dwellers Vejle.
Viborg FF 2 - 1 Vejle
Viborg FF crawled out of the relegation zone after a 2-1 win in Sunday's bottom duel against Vejle.
Robbie Russell came on for Thomas Poulsen in the 67th minute and saw a shot at goal from the edge of the box saved by Theis Rasmussen.
The game's opening goal was scored after 30 minutes, when Lasse Kryger gained possession on the edge of the box and sent it past Rasmussen.
Only two minutes later, Kryger broke through on the right side of the box and sent it square to Martin Åslund, who tapped it into an empty goal.
Five minutes before halftime, the visitors pulled one back when Ulrik Balling took advantage of some chaos in front of the Viborg goal.
Viborg, however, rode the 2-1 lead home and move up to 10th before next weekend's game at FC Copenhagen.
