Despite recent transfer rumblings, PSV Eindhoven winger DaMarcus Beasley believes he will still be wearing red and white stripes when the transfer window closes in 10 days.
The US star confirmed that MLS, as well as a couple of European clubs, made contact recently - but he has opted instead to begin his third campaign with the Farmers.
"It's set until the winter, I think," Beasley told YA. "There was some interest (from MLS) and I was definitely flattered."
"I wouldn't mind going back to the States at this point, if everything went right. At the same time, I'm still happy at PSV."
"We're playing in the Champions League this year, and hopefully we can do better than we did last year. And of course, we're still fighting for (an Eredivisie title)."
After missing nearly the entire preseason program, Beasley is focused on proving to new boss Ronald Koeman that he should again be the starting left winger.
The coach is a noted fan, having tried to purchase the Yank while in charge of Ajax four years ago.
"Right now, the three up top is Jan (Vennegoor of Hesselink, who appears set for a Celtic move), (Jefferson) Farfán and (Arouna) Koné, and I respect that," stated Beasley. "I'm not in the first 11 right now, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop fighting."
"I'm going to try and win my place back and do what I can for the team."
The Indiana native was held out of the selection for PSV's season opening win over NEC Nijmegen Sunday to assure that he wouldn't suffer a reoccurence of the hamstring injury that derailed his preseason training.
"We decided that if I come into the game for 20 minutes and have to make a sprint, I don't want make it any worse," said Beasley. "I'm taking another couple of days."
"I'm playing a half with the second team (Monday) to see if I can get my fitness up, and how I do in a real game. I'll be with the first team next week."
