ONYEWU COOLS BORO SPECULATION
Tuesday, June 6, 2006
Oguchi Onyewu and his agent have dampened rumors the US international defender is on the brink of a transfer to UEFA Cup finalists Middlesbrough.

"Nothing has been worked out in my eyes," Onyewu told YA in response to published reports from that he was on his way to the Riverside. "That is just like I was signing with Manchester (United) earlier."

His agent Will Sherling was equally cool on the proposed transfer of the Standard Liege man

"There is interest from a number of clubs in England and throughout Europe," he told YA. "There are options but as of now there is no deal done."

Though transfer speculation has been rife with at least three Premiership clubs this season having been linked to the 24-year old Maryland native, any potential transfer deal has been put under wraps for the moment.

"Watch this space," Sherling concluded.

Onyewu is currently in Hamburg, Germany as he prepares for his first World Cup with a matchup with Jan Koller and the Czech Republic looming on Monday.
