RECAP: WEEKEND GERMAN ACTION
Josh Sargent continued his good form for Werder Bremen as he assisted on a goal, but team kept up their winless run after a tie with Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Werder Bremen
Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen had no choice but to share the points as their game at the BayArena ended in tie.
Josh Sargent was once again in the starting lineup for Bremen and played 86 minutes.
The visitors got off to the worst start possible as Ímer Toprak conceded the own goal just four minutes into the contest. Kerem Demirbay's corner kick and coming under pressure from Sven Bender forced the Turkish international to make the error and help his former team take the early lead.
However, that goal did not deter Bremen as they worked their way back into the game and found the equalizer in the 40th minute. Milot Rashica's long-range shot took a deflection and the ball dipped over the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Lucas Haradecky as it hit the back of the net.
Bremen took their momentum into the second half and took the lead in the 48th minute when Sargent teed up Davy Klaassen to put his shot in the lower corner of the goal.
But just like in most of their games this season, the visitors could not hold on to the lead as Bayer leveled the score in the 58th minute. Karim Bellarabi's low cross from the right side found Lucas Alario, and the Argentine steered it home.
Leverkusen should have gotten more from this game, but finishing it what killed them and allowed Sargent and Werder to head back home with a point in the end.
Werder Bremen sits in 12th place in the standings with 10 points.
In other action in the Bundesliga, John Brooks made his return to the Wolfsburg starting lineup after an injury layoff, but they could only come away with a point after 0-0 tie with Augsburg.

Tim Chandler came off the bench for Eintracht Frankfurt as they fell to Borussia Monchengladbach in a 4-2 defeat.
In the 2. Bundesliga, Julian Green and Greuther Furth could not get on the scoreboard as their game with Vfl Osnbruck ended in a 0-0 tie.
Bobby Wood could not get in on the goal-fest as he could only watch Hamburg thump VfB Stuttgart in a 6-2 win.
Down in the 3. Liga, Terrence Boyd started, scored a goal and notched an assist as Hallescher shared the points with Meppen following a thrilling 3-3 tie.
