Sergino Dest is now a professional player as it was announced on Monday that the young right back signed a contract with Dutch giants Ajax.

The 18-year-old is signed with the team until 2021.

Dest has been with Ajax since 2012 when he entered their academy. Through the years he has made his way through the ranks and earned his way into the Ajax II team in October. He then went on to score his first goal for the team in November in their 5-2 win over De Grolsch Veste in the Eerste Divisie.

"I am very happy with this contract," said Dest in a statement on the Ajax website. "It's now on to great things! I want to play as many matches as possible for Jong Ajax, to become valuable to the team. And I hope to make my debut this season with Ajax 1."

The Dutch-born defender has also impressed on the international front as he played with the US Under-20 team that won the CONCACAF championship last month to secure a spot in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He also featured for the US at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup during their quarterfinal run in India.
