WOOD SEALS LOAN TO HANNOVER
KENYA BROWN - Tuesday, July 10, 2018
Bobby Wood will remain in the Bundesliga for the 2018-2019 season as it was announced on Monday that Hamburg agreed to loan him to Hannover.

The move comes after it was reported that the forward told the relegated team's front office that he wanted to leave.

It was a rough last season for the 25-year-old and Hamburg as they suffered their first relegation from Germany's top flight, with Wood only contributing three goals as he bounced in and out of the starting eleven.

Now, with his stay in the Bundesliga locked down for the season, the Hawaii will be looking to get back on track with his new team.

"I had very good discussions with the coach and I know what the club is up to, what type of football should be played and what role I can play in the process. My gut feeling told me that switching to 96 is the right decision," said Wood in a statement on Hannover's website.

Hannover sporting director Horst Heldt, in the same interview, has full confidence that his new signing can overcome the troubles he had last season to help the team to success.

"Bobby Wood fulfills exactly the striker profile we have defined. He is a highly talented player who has already proven his potential, and is a great fit for us because of his extremely team-friendly playing style and his great willingness to run. He had a difficult time last season, but it was not so long ago that half the league was chasing him. That is why we are very happy that we were able to realize the transfer," he said.

Wood and Hannover will get the season started on August 25 when they take on Aron Johannsson and Werder Bremen.
