Brad Friedel has signed a new one year contract with Tottenham but will also serve an additional role as the club's ambassador to the United States

Friedel, 43, has been in the Premier League since 1997 when he signed for Liverpool. In 2000 he transferred to Blackburn and then to Aston Villa in 2008. He has been with Tottenham since 2011 where he has appeared in 50 league games.

The legendary national team goalkeeper last played for the United States in 2005 and is best known for his performance at the 2002 World Cup where he helped lift the U.S. team to the quarterfinals in South Korea.

As a native of Ohio, Friedel holds numerous records including 311 consecutive Premier League games as well as being the oldest player to have appeared for Tottenham.
