STEPHENS JOINS STABAEK

After rumors of a pending deal for close to a month, American midfielder Michael Stephens finally joined Norwegian club Stabaek after signing a contract Tuesday morning.

For Stephens, 24, the move to Stabaek will be his second professional team after joining the L.A. Galaxy in 2010.

"I'm very excited to be here and I think this is going to be a great year for Stabaek and one I'm persoanlly looking forward to," Stephens said. "I'm grateful for all the fans who helped support [to] get me here."

At Stabaek, Stephens will be the first American to play for the club under new head coach Bob Bradley who is the first American to coach a top division team in Europe. Stephens is also the fourth American to play for the club when it was in the top division joining Mix Diskerud, Sean Cunningham, and Ricardo Clark.
