STEPHENS SET FOR STABAEK TRIAL
After parting ways with the Los Angeles Galaxy, American midfielder Michael Stephens will head to Norway to trial at Stabaek.
Stephens, 24, has been with the Los Angeles Galaxy since he was drafted with the 16th overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He has made 92 league appearances for the Galaxy since then and has scored two goals. He has been part of two MLS Cup winning teams in 2011 and 2012.
Now he will head to Norway and trial under a newly promoted Stabaek team that recently hired former U.S national team head coach Bob Bradley to lead the team in the Tippeligaen in 2014.
"I can confirm that Michael Stephens is arriving Oslo tomorrow morning to do a trial with Stabęk Fotball," Stabaek sporting director Inge Andre Olsen told YA on Tuesday. "We are looking forward to meet Michael. We have not decided yet how long he will stay."
Stephens is a native of Hinsdale, Illinois and played NCAA soccer at UCLA where he won PAC-10 player of the year. In 2009 he was named to the United States U-20 World Cup team in Egypt.
