PREVIEW: WEEKEND ENGLISH ACTION
Jozy Altidore's Sunderland look for their first win of the season as they take on Newcastle United, while it is a battle of American 'keepers when Brad Guzan's Aston Villa face Tim Howard's Everton.
Sunderland - Newcastle United
Jozy Altidore and Sunderland host Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby.
Altidore did not start in last weekend's loss to Swansea City, but the American forward hopes to see the starting eleven on Saturday.
The Black Cats still have not won a game in league play this season. They are coming off of a 4-0 loss last week, but they will need to start winning games soon if they want to avoid digging even a deeper relegation hole.
Newcastle is in the middle of the table and has lost just once in their last four games in all competitions. They drew with Liverpool last weekend but they hope this matchday has them three points.
Wes Brown is an injury doubt for Sunderland, while United will be without Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa because of suspension.
Aston Villa - Everton
Brad Guzan and Aston Villa welcome Tim Howard and Everton to Villa Park for a Premier League clash.
Both American goalkeepers are expected to start for their respective clubs.
Villa is coming off a tough loss to Tottenham last week and they have won just once in their last four games. Nevertheless, a win for Villa can bolster them into the top half of the standings.
The Toffees are coming off a win over Hull City and have won four out of their last five games in league play. They are in 7th place and a win can move them up to a top four spot.
Villa's Charles N'Zogbia, Gary Gardner, and Jores Okore will miss, while Everton's Apostolos Vellios, Antolín Alcáraz, and Darron Gibson will also be sidelined.
Middlesbrough - Doncaster Rovers
Seb Hines and MIddlesbrough take on Doncaster in a battle of teams looking to claw their way into the top half of the Championship standings.
Hines made his league debut in Boro's defeat last week against Barnsley on the road. The defender has been on the sidelines this season rehabilitating from injury.
Boro is currently in 16th place with 12 points after 12 games. They have won just one game in their last ten matches, but with players getting back to health a push up the table could be in the books.
Rovers are tied with Boro with 12 points however they have played one game less. Doncaster was walloped last weekend by Reading, but had won two out of their last three games prior to that defeat.
Doncaster will miss Richard Wellens because of suspension.
Bolton Wanderers - Ipswich Town
Tim Ream and Bolton host Ipswich Town at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
Ream has been starting of late for Bolton and is likely to start on the backline this weekend. Stuart Holden is out long-term because of a knee injury.
Bolton's home record this season has been rough, as they have drawn four games and lost two. Last week they tied a poor Sheffield Wednesday side at the Reebok, but the Wanderers hope to turn things around this weekend.
The American defender has played strong at the back this season with fellow centerback Matt Mills. Despite Bolton's rough patch, the defensive paring is a positive for the Wanderers.
Town is currently in a decent 12th place in the league, however they have won just once in their last five games.
Yeovil Town - Nottingham Forest
Eric Lichaj returns to Nottingham Forest's lineup as they take on Yeovil Town.
Lichaj missed last weekend's match against AFC Bournemouth because of suspension, but the regular fullback is likely to be back in the starting eleven on Saturday.
Forest has lost just one game in their last eight matches and are currently in fourth place in the Championship. They are in a playoff position but hope to claw their way into an automatic promotion spot.
Yeovil is at the bottom of the table with just six points in twelve games. They have not won a league game since August but hope Saturday will be different.
Geoff Cameron is questionable to play because of injury in Stoke City's match against Manchester United. Brek Shea and Maurice Edu are not likely to see the field for the Potters.
Duane Holmes hopes to feature in Huddersfiel Town's match against Leeds United.
Danny Williams and Reading host Millwall.
Zak Whitbread and Leicester City host AFC Bournemouth.
Will Packwood and Jonathan Spector are not likely to feature in Birmingham City's game at Derby County.
Jon Paul Pittman and Wycombe take on Bury in League Two play.
