PREVIEW: WEEKEND DUTCH ACTION
Aron Johannsson returns to AZ where he and his teammates hope to get back on track while Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond face Eerste Divisie leader Dordrecht.
AZ Alkmaar - Go Ahead Eagles
The Eredivisie gets back underway this week, as Aron Johannsson and AZ take one newcomers Go Ahead Eagles.
AZ had cooled off slightly before the league took a break during the last two weeks to accommodate FIFA's International schedule. Prior to the break, AZ had only managed to draw one point from their two most recent games after winning two of their first three.
Recently, Johannsson has dropped off a bit as well. After scoring in five consecutive games for his team at the beginning of the season, the striker has failed to score in their last three.
Eagles have been a surprise thus far. In their first Eredivisie season since 1996, they have been able to grab eight points in their first five games, which currently places them at seventh place in the standings, one point and four places better than 11th place AZ.
Denni Advic is unavailable for AZ as he is still rehabbing a knee injury, while Eagles have no injury concerns.
Helmond Sport - FC Dordrecht
Goals are in the equation Friday when Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond host first place FC Dordrecht.
Unfortunately for Kazlauskas and his backline mates, Helmond's bread and butter has been on the offensive side of the ball this season.
With 16 goals through seven games, Helmond have the second most goals in the Eerste Divisie this season, trailing only Dordrecht who have netted 18 times thus far.
However, whereas Dordrecht have allowed the least goals in the league this season (5), Helmond have conceeded 17 times so far, which is worst in the league.
Kazlauskas figures to be deputized at right back for the match, where he will draw the unenviable task of marking prolific Dordrecht left winger Erixon Danso. Not only does Danso lead his team in goals, but his six tallies are tied for the most in the Eerste Divisie of the non-penalty variety.
A yellow card suspension will keep midfielder Juanito Sequeira out of the game for Helmond, while Dordrecht don't have any exclusions to report.
Dion Watson has made the 18 man roster for Fortuna Sittard five times this season and could make his third appearance for the team this season when they host Jong PSV on Monday
