RECAP: WEEKEND GERMAN ACTION
With the third division of German not participating in the international break, Royal-Dominique Fennell and the Stuttgarter Kickers will try to end a winless streak to start the season.
1. FC Heidenheim - Stuttgarter Kickers
Royal-Dominique Fennell looks set to start his second match in a row when the Stuttgarter Kickers travel to Heidenheim on Saturday.
After spending six months recovering from a groin surgery, Fennell made his first start of the season in the Kickers' 3-2 loss to Unterhaching last weekend at center back. Fennell will either play in central defense or in central midfield, and either way, he and the Kickers will hope to overturn a seven-match winless streak to start the season.
Trying to end that run against Heidenheim will prove to be a difficult task, as the home team currently sits atop of the 3.Liga standings with 16 points through seven matches. Heidenheim has won four of its last five matches.
The Stuttgarter Kickers will be without Stefan Maletic, Paul Grischok and Daniel Engelbrecht because of muscular problems in his thigh, a shoulder injury and myocardial inflammation, respectively, while Kevin Dicklhuber and Vincenzo Marchese will miss due to red card suspensions. Smail Morabit is out for Heidenheim with a bruised calf.
Jerome Kiesewetter will hope to dress for Stuttgart II on Sunday against Wacker Burghausen.
