BRIAN SCIARETTA - Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Before the US World Cup camp has even started, the injury bug may have already claimed its first victim.

With less than five minutes to go before halfime, Aris Thessaloniki and US national team forward Eddie Johnson left today's Aris playoff game today with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Not even 24 hours after being named to the US 30 man preliminary World Cup roster, Johnson was unable to continue in the game had to be substituted out in the 41st minute in Aris' second-leg playoff game against AEK Athens.

Should Johnson be ruled out of the World Cup camp, US national team coach Bob Bradley will be allowed to add another player to the preliminary roster.

Possible potential candidates for a replacement would be Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey, FC Dallas forward Jeff Cunningham, or possibly even Aris midfielder/forward Freddy Adu.

Yanks Abroad will continue to monitor Johnson's progress as details become available.
