USMNT RATINGS VS CUBA
The U.S team is through to the quarterfinals
The U.S national team defeated Cuba in its second group stage game of the Gold Cup. It has clinched a spot in the quarterfinals.
Here are the match ratings:
Nick Rimando, 6.0 -
Nothing really that Rimando could have done on the goal from Ciprian. Was efficient in his distribution, and came up with a big save late.
Edgar Castillo, 4.0 -
Really struggled with the speed of Martinez. He was the main defender at fault on the goal. He did better in the second half with his decision making getting forward, but he struggled on defense.
Oguchi Onyewu, 5.0 -
Struggled with an athletic and shifty forward. Solidified more as the game went on, but wasn't able to get a body on Ciprian enough to prevent the goal.
Michael Orozco Fiscal, 6.0 -
Has proved through the first two games that he is a threat through the air. Solid in defense tonight.
Tony Beltran, 5.0 -
The Salt Lake right back seemed out of sync with Corona in the first half, but settled in to the game in the second half.
Brek Shea, 3 -
Bad day all around for the Stoke City winger. Crosses were terrible, dribbling was poor, and he really wasn't in good places.
Kyle Beckerman, 6.5 -
Another solid performance for the holding midfielder. Beckerman plugged passing lanes, and for the second straight game got a perfect cross for Wondolowski to finish.
Stuart Holden, 5.0 -
Was a bit inaccurate in his passing, much different from what we had seen from him thus far.
Joe Corona, 6.5 -
His goal was a thing of beauty. Struggled keeping his passing and crossing on target, but made up for it with his clever movement off the ball and his goal.
Landon Donovan, 6.5 -
Great work with Castillo to draw the penalty, good job burying the penalty. His corners were a little off, but he was able to help Diskerud and Beckerman in the second half to dominate.
Herculez Gomez, 5 -
Quiet night for Gomez, he really didn't have much service, but did provide a terrific pass to Donovan, who was just offsides.
Jose Torres, 6.5 -
Gave a great assist to Wondolowski. His crisp passing and footwork really gave the USA a boost in the second half.
Mix Diskerud, 6.5 -
Had a decent outing, helped in the second half to control the midfield, and nearly had a goal himself on a terrific shot that just missed wide left.
Chris Wondolowski, 7.5
- Got himself into goal scoring positions often, converting two. The real test will be to see how he performs against Costa Rica next Tuesday.
