BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, February 18, 2013
US U-20 midfielder Marc Pelosi was seriously injured on Sunday and will miss most of the rest of 2013.

Late in the second half of Liverpool's U-21 win over West Bromwich Albion, Pelosi was the victim of a harsh challenge from Liam O'Neil, who was promptly given a red card.

Pelosi was stretchered off, and it was later revealed that he suffered a broken tibia and fibula.

"Surgery is tonight," Pelosi's agent Richard Motzkin told YA on Monday.

Pelosi, 19, was invited by US U-20 coach Tab Ramos to take part in World Cup qualifying this week but was not released by Liverpool.

He was added to the club's Europa League roster last week and has been a regular starter for Liverpool's U-19 team in the NextGen Tournament.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
