Carlos Bocanegra and Racing Santander will be desperate for a win when they travel to Sporting Gijón on Saturday.

Sporting Gijón - Racing Santander

Bocanegra and Racing are coming off a frustrating 3-1 defeat at home to Córdoba, a match that was marred with three Racing red cards and left Racing Manager questioning the motives of the referee's.

Once again Racing will attempt to climb out of the second division basement, where they sit with 18 points. Racing filed an appeal for the suspensions of Francis and Juanmi and will have the pair available for Saturday's match. Francis' suspension has been lifted and Juanmi's is under review. However, they will miss Albert Dorca due to his red card and Hameur Bouazza to the Algerian team competing in the African Cup of Nations.

Sporting Gijón will be without Carmelo and Canella, both with lingering injuries and hope leading goal scorer Mate Bilić is healthy enough to play and has nursed an ankle injury all week. Gijón are unbeaten in five matches and have drawn their last four.

Racing have signed center back Martí Crespí from Mallorca in an attempt to solidify a back line that has struggled and the new arrival will be available for Saturday's match.

Notes

Oguchi Onyewu is unlikely to play when fourth place Málaga welcome Real Zaragoza to La Rosaleda on Sunday.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
