ANDY SCHREUR - Friday, January 25, 2013
Bryan Gerzicich and Ironi Kiryat Shmona hope to end their slide against Ashdod this weekend in Israeli League play.

The defending champions have found themselves in an offensive rut managing only two goals in their last three matches and were disappointingly shut out last week at Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

This week, they will attempt to leapfrog Ashdod with a win and move back into the top five in the league. Ashdod has only won once in their last five games as well and have struggled to score goals although they coming off a big 1-0 win over league leading Maccabi Tel Aviv last week.

The Blue Lions have announced that want away defender El'ad Gabai will stay with the club until the end of the season, unable to agree on a transfer with Hapoel and Maccabi Tel Aviv, respectively.

Ashdod will likely be without Bulgarian striker Dimitar Makriev, who wants a transfer and is expected to sign in either Turkey or Russia in the coming days.

Notes

Leonard Krupnik is still expected to be transferred during January and will likely not play as Maccabi Netanya play Hapoel Ramat Gan.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
